Baked Maple Dijon Glazed BACON

You know that little dog on the TV commercial....

BACON BACON BACON...

The mix of Savory (the mustard), the Sweet (Maple) and The Salty Bacon will have you or your guests wandering around the house salivating and singing the praises of BACON BACON BACON...

First, how about ... WHY BAKE BACON???

It's easy.  Just pop in the oven and go to work on the rest of the meal.  By the time it is finished, the bacon is crispy and the bread and tomatoes are sliced (for a BLT Lunch sandwich)!

Also the bacon comes out perfect everytime.  perfectly flat and straight (just in case you need pretty bacon for a food blog photo).

And finally...  You can season the bacon.  I LOVE cracked Pepper Bacon like this.  I also make some glazed bacon using Mango or even Maple glazed... Yum to all!

And finally, volume.  I Make a pound with almost no effort.  MUCH easier than frying.

OK... Here's what I did...

Baked Maple Dijon Glazed Bacon -
The World's BEST Bacon

Ingredients
  • 1 Pound Extra Thick Cut Bacon
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 2 TBS Whole Grain Mustard
  • Several Turns of a Pepper Grinder
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375° and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Lay the bacon strips out flat on the baking sheet, leaving space so they don't overlap.
  3. Whisk together the Maple Syrup and the Dijon Mustard.  Using a Pastry Brush, GENEROUSLY coat one side of each slice of Bacon.  Make several turns of a pepper grinder over the bacon.
  4. Pop the bacon in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes. If it's thick bacon that produces a lot of grease you'll want to drain the grease halfway through.
  5. Depending on how crispy you like your bacon, you can pull it out early or leave it in for a bit longer, but a couple of minutes makes a big difference so keep an eye on it..
  6. Serve as you would pan fried bacon and ENJOY!!!
